Samsung's Galaxy S7 smartphone unveiled

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge unveiled –

Samsung previously announced that its new flagships will tout 12 MP shooters capable of capturing attractive photos even in low-light.

The carrier will offer the 32GB variant of the Galaxy S7 starting at $23.17 (AU$32.31) per month in its 30-month Next 24 plan.

The Galaxy S7 has a flat 5.1in screen but a curved glass back, adding to the ergonomics. They can all be charged wirelessly.

The S7 and S7 edge are not cheap. What's new now is that the Samsung will be coming in with a new Always On Display. Another concern from last year's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is battery life. Qualcomm said that it has fixed the overheating problem of the S810 processors in its latest chipset.

At the end of 2015, Samsung started a beta-test program for the Marshmallow on several Galaxy S-series smartphones and recently, many reports from users in South Korea and the United States said that the company has started rolling out the update. Samsung also unveiled the new Gear 360 camera for filming VR stills and videos. The phone has stood up to every expectation, and while it did not feature the "pressure sensitive" display or any other fantasy based features, the phone did come out with some really, really strong specs. While 100% of the pixels in Samsung's new cameras work in this way, only 5% of the iPhone 6s's do - we'll see what this means in real world use in our full review.

Of course try though their rivals might, Samsung and LG clearly stole the show in 2016 with the Galaxy S7 and LG G5. However, there are subtle changes on the new phones - the chrome grill around the home button, rim and the chrome finish speaker grill is replaced by same body color finish as the phone.

At Mobile World Congress yesterday Samsung revealed that buyers who pre-ordered devices in the United Kingdom and USA will receive a free Galaxy VR headset, which could be a sign of things to come in mobile-buying patterns.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (S820) Review

This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE. In this context the Galaxy Note7 brings much of the flavor of the Galaxy S7 edge, but blends it with the S-Pen of the Note line and a few new features like the iris scanner. If you were paying attention to the industry with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5, it's very much more of the same rather than the m
