Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge battery life could be seriously impressive

Poor smartphone battery life is a contentious issue, and one all handset manufacturers are keen to resolve.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge could have a very impressive battery life.

That's according to a new leak that suggests the cell featured in the upcoming handset will be very large indeed.

A new FCC filing for the Galaxy S7 Edge seems to reveal a huge 3,600mAh battery, as first reported by specialist site SamMobile.

That's a significant increase over the 2,600mAh cell featured on last year's Galaxy S6 Edge.

What's more, we're expecting improvements in terms of software and processing efficiency, which will also help to boost battery life.

What's exciting about this particular leak is that it comes from the FCC – the United States Federal Communications Commission.

All telecoms devices on sale in the US have to pass through the FCC, so it's a trustworthy source.

Samsung is expected to launch two new flagship smartphones – the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge – on February 21 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event.

This event will take place in Barcelona, just a day before the Mobile World Congress technology tradeshow.
