Finally, it is that time again that many of us have been waiting for. Even before MWC 2016 kicks off, Samsung and LG are all set to take wraps off their next generation flagship smartphones. Samsung will finally be making the highly-anticipated Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge official along with a Gear 360 virtual reality camera. The event will start at 7PM CET (11:30PM IST) and will be live streamed in 360-degrees too.

In the run up to the Galaxy Unpacked event, we've come across tons of leaks and rumors surrounding the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones. And now, we do have a fair idea of what to expect. We have also come across leaked photos and official video which confirmed wireless charging and waterproofing features of the smartphones. Now, let's take look at of everything we know so far about the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

  • Design: After being repeatedly mocked for the boring design, Samsung went for a complete design reboot with last year's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. For this year's flagship smartphones, Samsung is going ahead with the same design as their predecessors, but with some refinements. For starters, the metal frame and front and back glass are still p resent; it's just that the glass is slightly more curved with smooth finish to it.

  • Display: Both, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are expected to sport a QHD Super AMOLED display running at 1440x2560pixels. While the S7 could come with a 5.1-inch display, the S7 Edge is likely to sport a 5.5-inch display. They are likely to be covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection to keep scratches at bay.

  • Hardware: Last year, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor was plagued with overheating issues, due to which, Samsung went ahead with its home-brewed Exynos 7420 octa-core processor. However, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are likely to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 820 SoC or Exynos 8890 SoC, which would be market dependent. The latest flagship smartphones are also expected to come equipped with 4GB of RAM, a bump of 1GB compared to their predecessors.

  • Storage: Both the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are likely to come in 32GB and 64GB storage options. While Samsung was widely criticized for not including expandable storage in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the new smartphones will come with a microSD card slot.

  • Camera: We all love to click photos and manufacturers are now looking for ways to improve the camera module in their smartphones. The Galaxy S6-family was equipped with a 16-megapixel ISOCELL camera with OIS. Samsung recently patented a new camera sensor called BRITECELL. While the resolution is decreased from 16-megap ixel to 12-megapixel, Samsung claims that it offers better low-light capabilities. The Galaxy S7-family is likely to come equipped with this sensor.

  • Battery: No matter which or how expensive a smartphone is, it usually struggles to last through the day. To address this issue, the new smartphones are expected to come with bigger batteries. Both Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge could come with 3,000mAh and 3,600mAh battery with fast charging feature. A leaked teaser also revealed that both smartphones will come with wireles s charging capabilities.

  • Waterproof: Samsung's Galaxy S5 was one of the first flagships to come with waterproofing capabilities. But in a bid to get the premium metal and glass design right Samsung couldn't incorporate waterproofing into the Galaxy S6-family. But from what we've seen in the leaked teaser, the Galaxy S7-family will include some IPXX rating for dust and wa terproofing, a feature that almost everyone would welcome.

  • Android OS: The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are expected to run on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with Samsung's TouchWiz UI running atop. Added features such as Super Power Saver mode to conserve battery, Samsung's KNOX security, Flipboard like Briefing app for news feed and new web browser are also expected.

  • Other Features: Like we've seen in the Galaxy S5, S6-family and the Note 5, the latest flagships are also expected to come with h eart rate monitor and a fingerprint scanner embedded inside the home button. A couple of reports also suggested that new flagships would sport some sort of pressure sensitive display, just like Apple iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus' 3D Touch display. The usual set of connectivity options such as 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ad are expected. An IR Blaster with Peel Remote App to let you control your TV and audio-video equipment and some type of always-on display could also be included.

Samsung is building a revolutionary ROLL-UP smartphone

GETTY • US PATENT OFFICE Example of a flexible display, LEFT, and the illustrations filed with the Samsung patent, RIGHT Samsung has been awarded a US patent for a brand-new foldable, rollable display to use across its smartphone and tablet ranges. The South Korean technology firm recently used its flexible display technology in the award-winning Galaxy S6 Edge, which has a dual curved QHD screen. However this latest patent, which was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, shows the company has bolder ambitions for its curved displays. The illustrations filed with the approved patent reveal a cylindrical hub, which houses the rolled display – which unfurls like a pair of window blinds. The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (S820) Review

This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE. In this context the Galaxy Note7 brings much of the flavor of the Galaxy S7 edge, but blends it with the S-Pen of the Note line and a few new features like the iris scanner. If you were paying attention to the industry with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5, it's very much more of the same rather than the m
