It seems Samsung found a unified solution for carrier locks, and this will make obsolete the procedure where each carrier has to order custom batches of Galaxy smartphones.
Samsung has unveiled its attempt to "redefine what a phone can do" with the Galaxy 7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Galaxy S6 was one of the least sold Samsung flagship in the last couple of years, so it might not be too hard for the South Korean company to ship more Galaxy S7 units than its predecessor. As far as chromatic options go, black trims are available for both handsets, while the S7 edge version gets a special gold color.
This is what the "Adoptable Storage" setup looks like in Android 6.0.
Koh Dong-jin, who heads Samsung Electronics Co.'s mobile communications business, holds the Galaxy S7 smartphones in a showcase event held on February 21, 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.
Other Galaxy S7 specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8 Octa processor depending on the region, 4GB of RAM with either 32GB or 64GB of storage and a 12-megapixel camera. Alternatively, Titan Grey LG G5 can be preordered for £499.99 on Mobile Fun.
The back of the phone is also water and dust resistant, even with prolonged submersion in water.
Here are seven things the Samsung Galaxy S7 can do that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus can't. In any case, if you want to get this device then you should know that there are a couple of offers out there already.
According to Ars Technica, the feature will not be present in the new flagships, and it is unclear if adoptable storage will be unlocked when the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 receive their future software updates.
Expandable memory: Both phones will come with a microSD slot for additional memory storage up to 200GB. Adoptable Storage is also primarily targeted towards emerging markets where devices with only 4-8GB of onboard storage are common. One of them was the ability to adopt a MicroSD card as internal storage.
