MWC 2016: Smartphone Technology That You Shouldn't Miss

Samsung stock posted a strong recovery since last fall, moving from $875.00 per share to $1,100 per share. HTC's stand gives little space to its muted smartphone refresh, but gives plenty of play space to HTC Vive.

Samsung lifted the curtain on the Galaxy S7 at the Mobile World Congress on Monday.

Smartphone companion devices like 360-degree cameras and virtual reality goggles, and souped-up flagship phones dominated the announcements in the lead-up to the Mobile World Congress 2016. "Here at the beginning of 2016 who doesn't take smartphones for granted?"

That's exactly what happened when the big guns of mobile technology began rolling out their latest products in a series of spectacular launches across the city. This should certainly benefit Samsung stock in the medium-term. And it fits everything in between like the iPhone 6S, Galaxy S6, LG G4, and so on.

Sprint is another USA carrier to have the LG G5 in its portfolio, though the its press release doesn't say anything about the smartphone's price, availability date, or colors. Oh, and if the camera is not impressive enough, the phone has a battery that claims to last up to two days. Samsung smartly waterproofed its flagship phone, while LG took a unique approach with a modular accessory system.

However I tried zooming and taking shots one-handed and didn't find it much more practical than doing so on a regular smartphone. Samsung has certainly proven its expertise.

"With some of the hardware accessories that the company specifically developed to be used alongside it, and the capabilities of Windows 10 Mobile's Continuum features, the X3 can morph into a full-on, big-screen computing device", Mr O'Donnell said in a commentary titled The Devices Formerly Known as Smartphones.

Samsung, meanwhile, complemented the new Galaxy GS7 and GS7 Edge phones by debuting Gear 360, a camera that captures 360-degree video, using the phone as viewfinder and remote control.

The social networking giant's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, made a surprise appearance to talk about its potential.

"With Snapdragon 820, we set to make virtual reality mobile", he said.

"Samsung needs to invest a lot more in software, services and content partnerships".

Telstra said it would trial a 5G phone network at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in 2018.

Overall, the LG 360 VR is a necessary step in the evolution of VR to become more accessible and easier to use. Pre-orders are already available for the Galaxy S7 and they have been selling like pancakes.

Samsung and Facebook have a good opportunity going here.

Samsung designed the Gear 360 in a way that allows users to take photos and videos in 360 degrees. If you are interested in getting one for yourself, you might want to read on, as the countries biggest operators have already revealed details on its availability. Tim Cook, Apple's boss, has expressed interest in this technology, and The Financial Times said that several hundred people are secretly working on a VR project. Plus, being on market in early February will help Samsung's first-quarter earnings.

The South Korean technology firm recently used its flexible display technology in the award-winning Galaxy S6 Edge, which has a dual curved QHD screen. However this latest patent, which was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, shows the company has bolder ambitions for its curved displays. The illustrations filed with the approved patent reveal a cylindrical hub, which houses the rolled display – which unfurls like a pair of window blinds. The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (S820) Review

This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE. In this context the Galaxy Note7 brings much of the flavor of the Galaxy S7 edge, but blends it with the S-Pen of the Note line and a few new features like the iris scanner. If you were paying attention to the industry with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5, it's very much more of the same rather than the m
