Here's how Samsung's foldable Galaxy X smartphone will work

As seen in an earlier patent application, an innovative hinge system allows the screen to fold up into a little pocket, where it curves around and avoids being fully bent or creased. When unfolded, the screen goes flat and the phone acts just like a typical, non-folding smartphone. It seems potentially ingenious. What the latest patent application shows is how charging will function. Rather than have a port on the bottom of the phone, the foldable device's charging contact will be found in the outer hinge, which is exposed when you fold the phone closed. The application shows a little dock that you can pop the phone onto when charging it, which you can see over at Patently Mobile. That design approach might prevent you from using the phone when charging, however, much like a smartwatch - but it'll save precious component space for this new kind of phone shape. It all looks pretty clever, although we'll have to see whether the flexible screen and foldable design pres

Samsung announces Batman-themed Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition

Rachel Hardy | May 31, 2016, 7:20 Samsung announces Batman-themed Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition Samsung has announced the launch of its new Injustice edition of the Galaxy S7 Edge. The same can be said of the rest of their themed smartphone lineup, but it looks like that's going to change with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition. We're coming up to the three year anniversary of the mobile game Injustice: Gods Among Us, and to celebrate the occasion Samsung has teamed up with Warner Bros. More important for Samsung than beating the iPhone 6s with the Galaxy S7 Edge is its budget lineup which is responsible for its status as the largest phone maker in the world. The Batman seal is located on the back and the box also includes a distinct Gear VR headset that's loaded with Oculus VR content vouchers. The limited edition Galaxy S7 edge is based on Batman, one of the game's central characters. However, it does seem odd that Samsung would

Samsung To Release Batman-Themed Smartphone

It's the kind of phone Bruce Wayne would use if he was Batman, but really egotistical and bad about keeping his secret identity actually a secret. What's the difference between the Galaxy S6 and S7? It has a Batman logo on the back and Batman lock screen theme, a huge delight for Batman fans. To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was launched for Indian market in March at a price of Rs 56,990. The limited release, scheduled for early June, is only planned for "select territories, including China, Singapore, Korea, Latin America, Russia and others to be announced soon". Samsung a South Korean multinational conglomerate company has launched a new smartphone under its C series in China - the Galaxy C7. recently the company also launched its C series smart Galaxy C5 in China. However, it does seem unusual that Samsung would be announcing the Injustice Gods Among Us version, especially when the game was announced a long time back. Samsung have been teasing

Samsung teases its 4K, VR-ready phone display

It will be available in select countries including China, Singapore, Korea, Latin America, and Russian Federation. The new phone is being made in conjunction with Warner Bros Interactive. We are sure that the Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Gods Among Us version is going to be more expensive than the regular version and only a selective number of units are going to be made, and will be targeted to those die-hard comic book fans. Lee further affirmed that Samsung continues to provide best mobile gaming experience for its users and the latest partnership is a flawless example of the same. The Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition package includes a sleek deep black Galaxy S7 edge, accentuated by gold detailing and an iconic seal on the back, inspired by Batman. Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios' alternative take on DC's heroes, hooligans and thieves Injustice: Gods Among Us offers game players a dark fighting game that explores "the psychological dangers of power

Samsung Unveils 4K Smartphone Display That Would Be Perfect For VR

The next Samsung phone may have a 4K display perfect for placing into a VR headset like the Samsung Gear VR according to reports from UploadVR. They snapped a couple pictures of prototypes Samsung was exhibiting at the Display Week conference in San Francisco, and the possibilities are enticing. The rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 (or Samsung Galaxy Note 7, depending on who you ask) will be the Samsung phone that carries the 4K display for VR flag into the battlefield. The display that Samsung was showing in specific is the was 5.5-inches diagonally (the Note is 5.7-inches), but it did have a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution. This is almost a 50 percent increase in pixel density, to 806 ppi, compared to previous displays. The prototype display can also reproduce 97 percent of the color gamut, and a has a 350 nit brightness level to boot. Now you can own Batman's smartphone thanks to Samsung

Samsung is committed to providing their users with the best mobile gaming experience and their partnership with Warner Bros.to develop the new Galaxy S7 Injustice edition package, further solidifies their efforts. Most territories' versions will include the phone (pre-installed with Batman wallpapers and Injustice), a Batman-themed hardcase, a Samsung Gear VR headset and an actual gold Batarang, presumably for fending off nerdy muggers. The release of Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will mark Samsung's final line of defense against the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (Pro) following the successful launch of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. We've seen Samsung pull a few Galaxy variants out of their hat with a Marvel vibe, and now it appears it's DC's turn to step up to the plate. Till now, both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge feature the widest aperture found on a smartphone camera, which speaks volumes of how great the actual image and video quality is going to be.

Samsung to Release Special Batman Galaxy S7 Smartphone

Batman is certainly one of the most popular superheroes in the whole comic book universe. The billionaire Bruce Wayne's alter ego has always been a big hit thank to his awesome crime fighting gadgets and it appears that he needs to add one more to his collection. According to a recent report, South Korean electronics giant Samsung has just announced that it will be releasing a special Batman Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone very soon. Engadget reports that the special Batman-themed Galaxy S7 Edge is being released to commemorate the third anniversary of the popular mobile game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The special edition smartphone mixes black and gold accents and of course dons the Batman logo on its back panel. It is also expected to be bundled with the Samsung Gear VR headset as well as an actual gold B

Samsung 4K Smartphone Display is geared towards VR

While most manufacturers are still adapting to 2K or QHD panels for their smartphones and slates, Samsung is thinking ahead. A Samsung 4K smartphone display was shown off this week, and it could be just what the doctor ordered if you dig mobile VR. The Display Week conference was held in San Francisco this week, and while there was plenty of cool tech on display (pun intended), Samsung unveiled a new prototype that will be of interest to VR gamers. If you've already dipped your toes into the wild waters of VR, you have probably noticed something called the "Screen Door" effect. It's not fun and can take away from the experience to a degree on some headsets although that shouldn't be an issue for the new Samsung 4K smartphone display. The new Samsung 4K smartphone display is of the 5.5-inch variety but has a pixel density or PPI of 806. That's due to the whopping 3,840 x 2,160 resolution of the panel, which smokes the current top-tier panel from Samsung w

Samsung unveils the all new Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 series of smartphones

Samsung has come up with two new mid-rangers, dubbed as the Galaxy C5 and C7. The C series is a new brand by Samsung, with the Galaxy C5 being smaller in comparison to the C7. Both the devices feature all-metal chassis and decent specifications. Samsung unveiled the latest C-series smartphones at an event held in China. The Galaxy C5 will retail at $330 (approximately Rs. 22,097) while the Galaxy C7 will cost you $396 (approximately Rs. 26,449). However, Samsung has not yet revealed whether it will launch these devices in other regions outside of China. But there are fair chances for a global launch by next month. The Galaxy C5 and C7 both run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and are integrated with a fingerprint scanner. Both the devices will be available in Gold, Pink-gold, Silver, and Grey color options. The Galaxy C7 is a premium version of the C5 — but both the devices feature the same storage capacity, camera, and RAM. To simplify, the Galaxy C7 comes with a slightly faster

Samsung’s new midrange Galaxy C5 is headed for China later this year

Samsung's flagship Galaxy S smartphones may get the most ad dollars, as anyone who's watched an NBA playoff game can probably attest — watching Lil' Wayne pour champagne over a Galaxy S7 Edge never gets old — but the Korean electronics behemoth makes a lot of midrange handsets, too. They're usually bound for developing markets, and its latest, the Galaxy C5, is no exception — it's heading to China in the coming months. The Galaxy C5 is an all-metal Android smartphone with a design that conspicuously, perhaps even intentionally, evokes popular smartphones from Samsung's sworn rivals: Apple's iPhone 6 and HTC's 10. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but Samsung's taken it too much to heart: the antenna placements around the C5's sloped edges and backplate, the front-facing camera's position relative to the headpiece speaker, and even the orientation of the home button call to mind the unibody competition's distinctive curves

Sustainable Smartphone Features

Smartphones face a bit of a challenge when it comes to environmental sustainability, given their heavy reliance on such potentially toxic materials as lead, bromine, chlorine, mercury, and cadmium to form their circuitry and casings. That may lead one to believe that a sustainable smartphone may not be in the cards for consumers who want to make choices that are good for the environment. But that's not true. In fact, it's actually pretty easy to cut your phone's environmental impact in half—simply by using it twice as long. And that will be good for your finances, as well. Doing this is more appealing than it used to be, because smartphone innovation seems to have plateaued in recent years. Today's smartphones, particularly many of the recommended models in our Ratings, are already quite good, especially when it comes to important characteristics such as camera quality. So the temptation to ditch your current phone for the newest model two years down the road sh

China's Huawei sues Samsung Electronics claiming mobile patent infringement

REUTERS/Aly SongMore By Yimou Lee and Anne Marie Roantree HONG KONG (Reuters) - Huawei Technologies Co Ltd [HWT.UL] said on Wednesday it has filed lawsuits against Samsung Electronics Co Ltd claiming infringement of smartphone patents, in the first such case by the Chinese firm against the world's biggest mobile maker. Huawei has filed lawsuits in the United States and China seeking compensation for what it said was unlicensed use of fourth-generation (4G) cellular communications technology, operating systems and user interface software in Samsung phones. "We hope Samsung will ... stop infringing our patents and get the necessary license from Huawei, and work together with Huawei to jointly drive the industry forward," Ding Jianxing, president of Huawei's Intellectual Property Rights Department, said in a statement. The lawsuit marks a revers

Samsung announces 10nm 6GB LPDDR4 DRAM chips for future smartphones

So Samsung's 6 GB RAM, besides using the latest LPDDR4 standard, would also be the first 10 nm class RAM in the smartphone industry. Rumors have been circulating in the past months of the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 powered by a 6Gb RAM chipset. To update manually, go into Settings About device Software update, or load up Samsung Smart Switch on your PC. In addition, so far there is not report showing Samsung is producing metal shell, so we might have to wait for Note of next generation adopting metal phone body, or hope the launching of Samsung Galaxy F in tales. Given such situation, it would not be surprising if Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users under AT&T would only enjoy the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in a matter of minutes or hours before deciding to upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The Galaxy Note 6 is believed to launch later this year, considering release of previous iterations. What we do not understand that if Samsung has the potential to make mid-ranged sm
