Samsung has launched its first Tizen-powered LTE smartphone, the Samsung Z2, which is set to go on sale in India from 29 August.
The device is aimed at new smartphone users who are moving from a feature phone, and will be sold for 4,590 Indian rupees (R920).
It features a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) screen, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, and a VGA (0.3MP) front camera.
The Z2 runs on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, has 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage – with microSD support – and is powered by a 1,500mAh battery.
Samsung also announced the sponsorship of its "Tizen App Challenge" for Unity developers, which runs from 18 August to 21 November.
The challenge is open to all developers who have Unity game apps in the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store.
Each of the first 50 entries will receive $3,000. The winner of the challenge will receive $20,000.
