Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Display: 5 Things that make it the best

Samsung Galaxy Note 7Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a phone that the smartphone industry is claiming to be close to perfect — and the feature that has garnered the most attention is undoubtedly the display. The 5.7in QHD AMOLED display is an absolute delight to look at. Samsung has long been offering the best display tech in the market, and its position as the king in this respect is further strengthened by the Galaxy Note 7. iPhone's screen isn't ghastly either, and a lot many people prefer LCD display — of which the iPhone is a master.

A lot many articles have been written comparing the Galaxy Note 7 to the iPhone 6S, going over their specs, performance, and camera (read the full comparison here: Galaxy Note 7 vs iPhone 6S Plus). In today's article, we will limit ourselves to just Galaxy Note 7's screen, and how it enables it to stand out among the competition.

The Edge Display

Galaxy Note 7 Display A big thumbs up to Samsung for being able to provide those curves on such a sharp, bright and vibrant display. The Edge functionality adds a number of nifty features and updates right to your screen, and they are accessible from anywhere. The Edge can be used to not just give you a quick access to your favorite contacts and weather, but can also be used as a night clock. As the Galaxy Note 7 is supposed to give the business-like feel, the Edge is very subtle and nowhere close to what the Galaxy S7 Edge offers. However, neither any other Android phone nor any iPhone offers a similar piece of technology.

Extremely Bright Display

Samsung has always been known to provide crisp and really bright displays. In fact, while it may be difficult to read on the screen of an iPhone and likes of HTC 10, Samsung's phones offer adequate brightness even in direct sunlight. The Galaxy Note 7 is no different: it has set the world record for the brightest smartphone display, at 1048 nits. It will not only make the reading far easier but will also give the phone the ability to play HDR videos — and HDR videos are what the smartphone industry will be focusing on in 2017.

Always On Display

Many companies have incorporated the Always On Display functionality on their flagships, but none of them have been able to reduce the battery impact as much as Samsung has. The functionality was first unveiled with the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge and has now made its way into the Note lineup. Always On Display on Samsung's AMOLED screen is extremely battery efficient, because only the pixels that are in use light up, and the others remain switched off. If you are one of those people who unlock their phone just to look at the time/calendar, then this feature is God-sent for you.

HDR Video Playback

Galaxy Note 7 HDR Screen

If you are aware of the latest and the greatest in video playback, you would know about High Dynamic Range (HDR) Video. What this essentially means is that you will see far more color accuracy, much deeper blacks, and much truer whites while watching any video. Obviously, to play such videos, you are going to need a display that supports it. The Galaxy Note 7 has become the first, and currently the only smartphone to support HDR video playback. HDR content can be found on YouTube and Amazon, and admittedly, it's not much right now. However, the HDR video is what the next few years will be about, and a lot of content is expected to be available in near future.

Toughened Gorilla Glass

iPhone 7 Plus v Galaxy Note 7 Display

The Galaxy Note 7 features a hardened Gorilla Glass on both the front and the rear. The best thing is that Gorilla Glass 5 supports 4K and HDR video playback — which means protection doesn't come at the cost of display quality. With Gorilla Glass giving your phone's display all the protection it needs, accidental drops shouldn't result in shattered glass and hideous scratches.

There is no doubt that Galaxy Note 7 has the best display on the market right now — and that plays a significant role in how well the phone fares against the other flagships. Having the widest color gamut and stunning viewing angles are like cherries on top. If you want the Galaxy Note 7 to be your next smartphone, note that the pre-booking on various carriers has already started, and the phone will be available from August (For information on preorders and deals, go to: Galaxy Note 7 Preorder)

The South Korean technology firm recently used its flexible display technology in the award-winning Galaxy S6 Edge, which has a dual curved QHD screen. However this latest patent, which was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, shows the company has bolder ambitions for its curved displays. The illustrations filed with the approved patent reveal a cylindrical hub, which houses the rolled display – which unfurls like a pair of window blinds. HTC 10 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 / Edge vs LG G5

In the Android world, we follow a familiar release cycle when it comes to flagship smartphones, mostly centered around the two major trade shows, MWC and IFA. This year, Samsung and LG were first out of the gate with their respective flagship offerings being showcased back during MWC 2016, and while HTC was a little late to the party, we now have all three high-end offerings to choose from. Each device brings something unique to the table to help distinguish themselves from the other, and we've covered them extensively here at Android Authority with comprehensive reviews, in-depth comparisons, and feature focus articles. Which is the best of the lot? That is what we aim to find out, as we take a closer look at the HTC 10 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 Edge vs LG G5 in this unique triple-threat versus! Design In design, we start with the LG G5, given its complete departure from the norm with regards to design and build quality. The G5 now features a full-metal

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (S820) Review

This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE. In this context the Galaxy Note7 brings much of the flavor of the Galaxy S7 edge, but blends it with the S-Pen of the Note line and a few new features like the iris scanner. If you were paying attention to the industry with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5, it's very much more of the same rather than the m
