Samsung's Galaxy Note 6 and the iPhone 7 Plus will be released during the third quarter of 2016, and details about both of these phones have leaked out. On Friday morning, BGR unveiled exciting information about the Galaxy Note 6 that is based on information from a Dutch website.
"According to the website's sources, Samsung is testing out a version of the Note 6 that has a giant 4,000mAh battery, which would be a step up from the Galaxy S7 Edge's 3,600 mAh battery. The website also claims the device will have a 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, along with 6GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage."
The Note 6 could have an even better battery life than the S7 Edge.[Photo by Daryl Deino]The 3,600 mAh battery on Samsung's S7 Edge is already outstanding and power users have not experienced any problems getting through the day without having to recharge their phones. A 4,000 mAh battery would probably allow most Galaxy Note 6 users to forget their chargers for at least two days. However, it is unfortunate that Samsung is increasing the size of the screen without increasing the pixel density. While the human eye won't be able to tell the difference, using the Note's Gear VR device would still reveal a screen door effect because there aren't enough pixels to counter this when the screen is right in front of your face. That's why it was hoped that Samsung would put a 4K screen on their upcoming Note 6. However, a 4K screen would definitely eat up more battery life. Still, there is a lot of excitement for the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 on Twitter.

Will Apple finally increase the screen resolution of the new iPhone 7 Plus?[Photo by David Becker/Getty Images]Can Samsung convince iPhone fans to switch over? The iPhone 7 Plus looks to be a big upgrade from the iPhone 6s Plus. According to Macworld U.K., the new phone could get a screen resolution bump. It will have a Smart Connector like the iPad Pro for extra peripherals, such as a keyboard. In a controversial move, Apple is also removing the headphone jack and will provide some type of wireless earbuds with the new iPhone. It's also possible that the 7 Plus will have a ceramic back. While it is true that Apple is looking to upgrade the iPhone screen to use OLED technology, that probably won't happen until 2017. However, according to MacRumors, the iPhone 7 Plus could have a dual-lens camera system that takes DSLR-like images with 2-3x optical zoom and improved performance in low-light conditions.
Excitement for the iPhone 7 Plus has been building on Twitter.

Although it appears that the Galaxy Note 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be the two hottest smartphones, they could face stiff competition from Microsoft's upcoming Surface Phone. Unlike Samsung and Apple's offerings, the Surface Phone will allegedly run a full desktop operating system, Windows 10. How Microsoft will fit a desktop operating system into a small phone is anybody's guess, but Microsoft could surprise people.
