Samsung launches Tizen-powered 4G smartphone Z4

Samsung expanded the Tizen ecosystem with the introduction of the Samsung Z4, a smartphone that packs powerful performance with a simple user experience.

Samsung ended up tending Tizen after most of the other participants in the LiMo Foundation more or less lost interest in the idea of Linux-for-mobile-devices. It comes with a 4.5-inch WVGA (480x800) display and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad core processor (unspecified chipset) coupled with 1GB of RAM.

As mentioned, the phones are being launched in select markets and to start with, only Indian buyers can lay their hands on the Z4 in black, silver or gold colours. The dual-SIM phone runs Tizen OS and supports 4G LTE (VoLTE-ready).

Though the phone stands launched, the exact date of commercial release and the price at which it will be sold in India have not been made public yet.

Samsung Z4 features a 5 Megapixel rear camera with Dual LED flash. Priced at Rs 5,790, the VoLTE smartphone will be available starting May 19 in mobile stores across India. Our affordable Tizen series has been instrumental in catalysing the smartphone upgrade and with Z4, we will offer yet another compelling product to affordable segment consumers-Mr.

Besides attractive design and optimized interface for easy upgrade, the presence of India-relevant localized features like S bike mode and My Money Transfer have also contributed to the popularity of Z series in India. It gives users the option to access latest news in their preferred local language with just a swipe on their home screen. The company claims that both front and rear cameras on Samsung Z4 are "optimised for social media" and offer features focused on convenience and creativity.

The Z4 comes with a 4.5 inch display with 2.5D glass.

Connectivity-wise, the Samsung Z4 offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB 2.0 and Global Positioning System. But Samsung's flagship smartphones have long persisted with Android, there's no sign of that changing and phones outsell wearables by a very considerable margin.

Why do Android fanboys hate admitting that Samsung copied Apple?

It's impossible to cover the mobile market without diving into the good ol' "iOS vs. Android" debate from time to time. These are the two biggest mobile platforms on the planet, so they're constantly being compared. Likewise, Samsung and Apple are the world's top two smartphone vendors, so their phones are constantly pitted against each other as well. Of course, there's another reason Apple and Samsung are often mentioned in the same breath: after entering the market, Samsung quickly grew to become the top mobile device maker on the planet thanks in large part to Apple. First, Samsung did everything it possibly could to copy Apple's iPhone and iPad. Then, it spent billions upon billions of dollars belittling Apple products in TV, online, and print advertising. Samsung spent years positioning its own devices as the cool alternative to Apple's iPhone, and its efforts paid off big time. Even now, Samsung continues to copy Apple all the time acro
