The Galaxy Note 8 will be the first Samsung smartphone to feature a dual camera system and offer 6GB RAM as standard. It will be announced at an event in New York on August 23.
Samsung's upcoming flagship, the Galaxy Note 8 is scheduled to launch on August 23 and has made its way through the GeekBench benchmarking platform. The benchmark listing confirms some of the previously rumoured specifications of the flagship device.
A pre-launch device with model number SM-N950F, purported to be the Galaxy Note 8, has been put through its paces on GeekBench. This particular model is expected to be a Single SIM variant destined for Europe and other global markets. The listing confirms use of Samsung's Exynos 8895 chipset, but the handset is expected to launch with Snapdragon 835 in the US. The Galaxy Note 8 has also received FCC certification ahead of it's official launch in New York.
The smartphone features 6GB RAM, making it the first Samsung flagship to launch with that much amount of memory as standard. Samsung ships its 2017 flagship Galaxy S8 with 4GB RAM as standard, but there is also a 6GB RAM variant available in select markets. The Geekbench listing further notes that the Galaxy Note 8 will ship with the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Note 8 is tipped to sport a larger 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Samsung has already confirmed an Infinity Display design via its launch invite. The handset will be the first Samsung device to feature a dual camera system with dual 12MP sensors supporting 2x optical zoom along with optical image stabilisation.
The Note 8 is expected to be backed by a smaller 3300mAh battery and support an improved S Pen with new features like translation. Samsung has reportedly advanced the launch of Galaxy Note8 in order to capitalise on rumoured delay of Apple's OLED iPhone. The pre-orders might start on September 1 and it will become available globally by the end of September at an estimated retail price of €999 (approximately Rs 72,000).
