Sony Xperia XZ Premium awarded Best New Smartphone at MWC 2017

The GSMA is a pan-European organization that hosts the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and as part of the MWC they also hold annual Global Mobile Awards or GloMo awarding the best tech companies in various categories. In 2017 they awarded statuettes to over 40 winners. We already told you that Samsung nabbed the "Best Smartphone of 2016" prize, but now we learn that Sony has won the "Best new smartphone" award for their latest Xperia XZ Premium.

Sony unveiled four new devices at MWC 2017 - the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra. The first of them is the current flagship with its 5.46" display with a 4K display, stunning Snapdragon 835 CPU and an updated 19 MP camera with 1/2.3" sensor size and Motion Eye technology for slow-mo videos in 960 fps.

The phone has a luminous chromium body and looked the most dazzling on the showroom floor.

Other winners include Amazon with its Amazon Echo with "Disruptive Device Innovation" award, Niantic won Judge's Choice Mobile App for Pokemon, and the partnership between Reliance Jio and Samsung we told you about snatched "Best Mobile Innovation for Emerging Markets," among others.
