Samsung launches new smartphone Galaxy J3

South Korean tech giant Samsung today launched a new smartphone—Galaxy J3 -- priced at Rs 8,990, designed specifically for bike riders in India. Interestingly, 70 per cent of Samsung India's consumers are two-wheeler users. The handset features a 'S Bike mode' that has been developed by the India team. Once activated, callers are notified using an automated answering machine that the user is riding and cannot take the call. The caller can choose to press 1 to express urgency to speak to the biker. The rider will have to come to a complete halt to answer the call, thereby ensuring his safety. "We are working on bringing in meaningful innovations that make people's lives better. While studying the consumers' phone usage behaviour, we realised that incoming calls are a major distraction to bikers. "About 70 per cent of our users in India are two-wheeler users...This feature is our effort to promote responsible riding," Samsung India Senior

Smartphone Madness 2016: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs. Alcatel Idol 4S

It's a tag-team battle of the ages, as a tandem of phones from Samsung and Alcatel square off for the last spot in the Smartphone Madness finals. Samsung's newest flagships debuted with a splash, as critics praised the phones' dual-pixel cameras, which can focus faster than cameras on rival phones, as well as the wider pixels that help produce great-looking shots even in low light. Add in a wider Edge screen and beefier batteries on both phones, and it's no wonder that the Galaxy S7 has thrived in this competition, though it just managed to eke out a victory over the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the previous round. Samsung gets forecast upgrade on back of S7 sales

Early indications of stronger-than-expected sales of new Galaxy S7 smartphones suggest technology giant Samsung Electronics is emerging from a two-year decline at its flagship mobile business. Squeezed by Apple Inc in premium products and undercut by Chinese rivals like Huawei in cheaper devices, Samsung's smartphone profits and global market share have fallen, sapping momentum at South Korea's most valuable company. But several brokerages on Wednesday upgraded first-quarter forecasts for what is still the world's top smartphone maker, citing a strong start for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge premium phones that were launched earlier this month. Samsung likely shipped 9.5 million S7 phones in the first quarter, significantly more than the initial estimate of 7 million, Jay Yoo, industry analyst at Korea Investment & Securities, wrote in a report. "It looks like the sell-in numbers have been pretty good and analysts are raising their sales forecasts for th

Apple Vs. Samsung: Supreme Court Agrees To Hear Patent Feud

In this case, both a U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit have ruled that the infringer is liable for all profits. The company argued a lower court wrongly awarded Apple all of Samsung's profit on phones found to infringe Apple designs, and the court said it would attempt to resolve the issue. The U.S. Supreme Court will intervene in the five-year legal war over smartphones, agreeing to hear Samsung Electronics Co.'s challenge to a $399 million award won by Apple Inc.
