Smartphone Shipments Rise In 2017 As Samsung, Xiaomi Corner Market Share

The Indian smartphone market had seen Samsung as the table topper for a long time now.

As you can see above, Samsung's market share fell 1.0 percentage points (from 23.8 percent to 22.8 percent) as it shipped the same number of smartphones: 79.2 million.

Stung by the suspension of the Galaxy Note 7 phablet, Samsung still managed to take up 18.5 per cent of the market in the fourth quarter of a year ago. Apple came in second with shipments reaching 51.6 million units, up slightly from a year earlier. Huawei secured its reputation as a manufacturer of premium smartphones with the P and Mate Series, and continues to build on its strong presence in the lower priced market segments, in the main with its Y Series and Honor Brand, according to IDC.

But at least compared to the same timeframe of 2016, worldwide Q1 numbers were surprisingly on the rise, according to preliminary International Data Corporation (IDC) research, from 332.9 to 347.4 million units respectively. It has shown an increase of 12% in the first quarter of the year 2017. The Korean company had a zero percent year-to-year growth, however discounts on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge helped the company sell last year's flagship models as it geared up for the release of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Reith said the 2017 market will feel the impact of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship handset, and a widely expected announcement from Apple for its new iPhone later this year.

Donald Trump vows to be 'true friend' to National Rifle Association"You came through for me, and I am going to come through for you", he told the estimated 10,000 people there to hear him speak. He didn't mention national concealed carry reciprocity, the top national legislative priority of the NRA.

Huawei led the pack with a 9.8 per cent market share during the same period, almost posting a double digit market share, the data showed. "And despite any formal announcements from Apple it is safe to say the industry is highly anticipating what comes from this year's iPhone announcements".

Samsung, which continued to enjoy the leadership position in smartphone, recorded 79.2 million unit shipments, which is flat from a year ago period.

Vivo has taken the third position once again with 36% increase in its sales as compared with the past year.

Supporting this, Scarsella pointed out an ongoing shift in many OEMs' smartphone portfolios towards affordable devices with higher end styling as opposed to genuine flagship devices. The Samsung Galaxy Note7 (S820) Review

This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE. In this context the Galaxy Note7 brings much of the flavor of the Galaxy S7 edge, but blends it with the S-Pen of the Note line and a few new features like the iris scanner. If you were paying attention to the industry with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note5, it's very much more of the same rather than the m
