Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Release Date: What to Expect

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update now confirmed for arrival, Galaxy Note 2 owners are now on the look out for an official roll out from Samsung, a roll out that will bring Galaxy Gear support and more to the company's second-generation Galaxy Note model. With a release date close, it's now time to look at some of the things that Galaxy Note 2 users should expect from the upcoming Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 release date. Earlier this year, it looked like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners would be getting an upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a logical step for a device that arrived with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board in September of last year. The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 release date was rumored for the summer and it seemed that owners would be getting some of the Galaxy S4 software shortly after the Galaxy S4′s arrival in the United States. Then, a rumor emerged from the shadows, claiming that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, lik

Android 4.3 schedule for Galaxy S 4, S 4 Active, S III, and Note 2 leaks

Android Police Today, Android Police got its hands on Samsung's update schedule for many of its popular smartphones. The schedule shows that Android 4.3 should hit the Galaxy Note II, S III, and S 4 on most carriers by the end of November. The Galaxy S 4 active, an AT&T exclusive, will be updated a day before Christmas. The leak notes that the dates are subject to change, but for now it gives us a good idea of Samsung's timeframe. The update to Android 4.3 will also bring Galaxy Gear compatibility, which means the Gear will now work with a whopping 6 Android devices. Android 4.3 brings restricted user profiles, OpenGL ES 3.0, and Bluetooth LE. Samsung added a few new features to its 4.3 build of TouchWiz, too, but it's unclear how many will make the jump to older devices. Android 4.3 came out on July 24th, which would put Samsung's update time at around 4 months. Android 4.4 is widely expected to arrive before the end of the year.

BBM for Android available at Samsung Apps store

After a leaked Android APK of the app crashed BlackBerry's servers, the rollout of BBM is about to resume, and this time, it's bringing along a queue system, wherein you'll have to register and wait a while before BlackBerry grants you access for using the app and start messaging your friends. Well, unless you're a Samsung device user in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, in which case you'll be able to download BBM from the Samsung Apps store and start using it immediately, Sammobile reports and adds  the wait time, by default, is only applicable to those who registered on BBM.com before the previous launch of the app, but even if you didn't do that, you still gain instant access if you're in the aforementioned continent. So, just a few hours before BBM is live and yours for the taking, without the need to have a BlackBerry device. Here's hoping the launch goes smoothly this time around. For Samsung, all roads lead away from Android

Andre Mouton, Minyanville 1:36 p.m. EDT October 14, 2013 A Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Note 3, bottom left, and Galaxy Gears, wristwatches with a touchscreen displays, are displayed in a showroom at Samsung headquarters in Seoul, South Korea on Oct. 4. (Photo: Ahn Young-joon, AP) Samsung likes software. Anyone who bought the Galaxy S4 already knows this; the handset comes loaded with proprietary software. There's eye tracking, advanced touch functionality, and an enterpris e package called Knox. There's also a custom camera app, a TV remote app, a workout app, a travel app, a translation app... the list goes on and on. So really, last week's Wall Street Journal article only told us what we already knew: The Korean manufacturer has been charging headlong into smartphone apps. Meanwhile, Google likes hardware. Ever since it bought Motorola, the Android developer has been competing with the smartphone manufacturers -- like Samsung -- that put its operating

Samsung’s Galaxy ROUND Android Smartphone Arrives With Its Curved OLED Display

It appears that's a "yes" on Samsung beating LG to market with a curved-display smartphone. Samsung announced that the Samsung Galaxy ROUND smartphone is available, and the 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display is indeed delicately concave. Before you get excited, here's the bad news: It's only available in Korea, at least for now. We know, we know. Buck up. Here's what's under the hood: There's a quad-core 2.3GHz MSM 8974 (Krait) processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and a 13MP autofocus (with flash) front- and 2MP rear cameras. The phone runs Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and has a USB 3.0 port as well as LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS+GLONASS, and NFC for connectivity. There are a few features Samsung developed based on the fact that the device is curved, and the primary one is the Roll Effect. Basically, you can gently tilt the device to see the date, the time, notifications, and more even when the home scree

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Getting Android 4.3 N9005XXUBMJ1 Firmware Update

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 only debuted on the European market a week ago, but the Korean company already started to push the first OTA firmware update for the 5.7-inch smartphone. While OTA update for Galaxy Note 3 will let the Android version unchanged its main purpose is to bring improved stability, as reported in the official Samsung update advisory. The firmware update weighs 30 MB, so I can say it's safe for you to download it using your data plan. It's also worth noting that the N9005XXUBMJ1 for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is only available for the LTE-friendly unlocked handsets. As I was mentioning above the software update is still using the Andorid 4.3 platform, with the build number labelled JS15J. For the time being there's no information about any changes performed to the Galaxy Note 3 region-locking. In case you don't know it already I remind you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 boasts about a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, while being powere

Asus, HTC, LG and other Android licensees join Samsung in faking test results

Cheating test scores and misrepresenting device capabilities are rampant at Samsung, but are also being used by virtually every other Android licensee apart from Google itself, research shows. Samsung has been shamed twice this year by confirmed reports of its intentional falsification of performance benchmarks involving both of its flagship products: the Galaxy S4 and Note 3. According to testing by Anand Lal Shimpi and Brian Klug of AnandTech , benchmark cheats are not limited to Samsung, but rather pandemic among Android licensees. "With the exception of Apple and Motorola," the site observed, "literally every single OEM we've worked with ships (or has shipped) at least one device" that similarly fudges benchmarks. However, since each Android licensee cheats in different ways on different types of benchmarks, it's difficult to benchmark the benchmark cheating. It's also hard to convince them to stop, authors stated. "Virtually all Andro
